The Problem

The idea of turning your book into an audiobook is daunting: Should you narrate it yourself, or hire someone? How do you find the right narrator? What about microphones and recording equipment? And once it’s finished, if it gets finished, what do you do then?

Writing a book is an amazing achievement, but producing one in audio requires specific expertise. The good news is navigating the audiobook creation process isn’t something you have to do alone.

I’m Lauren — a full-time audiobook narrator, director, and producer based in Dallas–Fort Worth and working with clients worldwide. I direct and produce audiobooks for authors, publishers, and thought leaders, including faith-based voices and independent publishers. I’ve narrated over 500 audiobooks and directed 150+, including productions recognized with 11 AudioFile Earphones Awards and an Odyssey Award. I’ve been on every side of audiobook production, which lets me understand what each project needs and step into the role that’s most useful to you.

High caliber audiobook production depends on nuance: in performance consistency, sound quality, emotional intention, text research, and up to date industry standards, all of which can be missed by LLM’s and AI production tools. That’s the human judgment and expertise I bring.

I care so much about making audiobook production feel manageable, collaborative, and genuinely enjoyable, whatever role I’m playing on your project. I know how strange and vulnerable it can feel to sit alone in a dark booth and read your own words out loud. I’ve been there, literally! I want all my clients to leave their recordings with more than just pristine audio files, but also a sense of accomplishment and pride in their work.

DIRECTION

I direct and coach you — or another narrator — through the recording process, catching pacing, consistency, and performance issues in real time.

NARRATION

I narrate your audiobook myself, bringing over 500 titles of experience to your book's performance, or source auditions from other professional narrators who fits your ideal voice profile.

PRODUCTION

I manage the whole production: casting the right narrator, preparing your manuscript, coordinating the studio and schedule, directing the sessions, and keeping every step organized from first call to final file delivery.

You don't have to know which one fits before you reach out — figuring that out together is the first step, not a prerequisite.

  • I source and book professional recording studios, professionals, and coordinate the moving pieces between you, your narrator(s), studio, and engineer — helping keep schedules, manuscripts, communication, and feedback organized throughout the production.

  • If you'd like to hire a professional narrator, I can help you identify and cast the right voice for your book based on genre, tone, characters, audience, and performance needs.

  • I review and annotate the script you'll read from, flagging pronunciation issues and adding pacing and performance notes.

  • A live session to talk about what to expect, my working style, and vocal stamina before you're in the booth.

  • I'm in the room while you record, whether virtually or, if you’re in Dallas in-person, giving real-time performance notes and catching any errors

  • I manage the production — your recording engineer handles the technical audio work, and I'll help you find and vet the right one. Your engineer listens for audio quality; I listen for performance.

  • Not at all. Most of the authors I work with are first-timers, and it’s normal to be nervous. That's exactly what the coaching and live-directing sessions are for. And don’t worry - nobody likes the sound of their own voice. I (and listeners) are more interested in what you have to say!

  • I manage the production; your recording engineer manages the technical audio work.

    I manage the people, performance, schedule, manuscript, communication, and overall process. Your engineer handles the technical recording and editing — making sure the audio is clean, consistent, and meets industry standards.
